This creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip is shaped into a spooky skull face for Halloween. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for parties, with a rich, cheesy texture and just the right amount of heat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Tortilla chips or crackers for serving
  • Optional garnishes: chopped green onions, extra hot sauce drizzle, or a sprinkle of paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Let cream cheese sit at room temperature for 15 minutes to soften.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo hot sauce, ranch dressing, and sour cream. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  3. Fold in 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup mozzarella cheese. Reserve the rest for topping.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a cast iron skillet or oven-safe baking dish and spread evenly.
  5. Sprinkle remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the top. Gently press cheese into the dip.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is melted and lightly browned.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes to set.
  8. Use a small round cookie cutter or paring knife to cut out two eye holes and a mouth shape in the cheese layer.
  9. Fill the eye and mouth holes with sliced black olives, pressing gently.
  10. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or crackers.

Notes

For a spookier look, use a slightly crooked mouth shape. If making ahead, assemble up to step 5, refrigerate, and add 5-7 minutes to baking time. For extra heat, add minced jalapeño or cayenne pepper.
