Cozy Christmas Tree Cake Dip with Sprinkles

Christmas tree cake dip - featured image

A creamy, mousse-like dessert dip that tastes exactly like Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes. Made with cream cheese, Cool Whip, and almond extract, this 10-minute recipe is perfect for holiday parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 cup Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1/4 cup Christmas sprinkles, plus more for topping
  • Graham crackers or vanilla wafers for dipping
  • Pretzel sticks for dipping
  • Apple slices or strawberries for dipping

Instructions

  1. Soften cream cheese and butter by taking them out of the fridge about 30 minutes before starting. If in a hurry, microwave cream cheese for 10 seconds and butter for 15 seconds, being careful not to melt them.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter together with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down sides of bowl halfway through.
  3. Sift powdered sugar into the bowl to prevent lumps. Beat on low speed at first, then increase to medium speed until fully combined, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add vanilla extract and almond extract. Beat on medium speed until fully incorporated, about 30 seconds.
  5. Add thawed Cool Whip to the bowl. Use a rubber spatula to gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture until just combined, with no white streaks remaining. Do not beat with mixer.
  6. Gently fold in 1/4 cup Christmas sprinkles until evenly distributed but still intact.
  7. Transfer dip to a serving bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld and dip to firm up.
  8. Just before serving, top with additional sprinkles for a festive look. Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzel sticks, or fresh fruit.

Notes

Don’t skip the chilling step – it allows the dip to set up properly and flavors to meld. For best results, make a day in advance. If dip is too runny, cream cheese and butter may have been too warm or chilling time insufficient. For dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese, butter alternatives, and dairy-free whipped topping like CocoWhip. For gluten-free, use gluten-free dippers and check sprinkles for wheat-based additives.
